butterfliesCamping and Glamping in Yorkshire – you will LOVE it here…

…if you appreciate listening to nature and  eco-camping off the beaten track…

...if you want to toast marshmallows on an open campfire whilst gazing at a sky laden with stars…

…if you want time to yourself to read your favourite book or watch the Kingfishers and the Otters down by the stream…

…if you appreciate open spaces to play and make new friends whilst sat around your campfire.

The Hideaway@Baxby is a special, peaceful and restful place where you can spend precious days away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A haven for walkers and cyclists, and a perfect base for exploring the many historic, cultural and outdoor attractions of this lovely part of Yorkshire.  We are about camping, campfires, the countryside and getting away from it all.

We believe and encourage ‘natural play’ (playing in the stream, climbing trees and being free to run around making new friends) here at The Hideaway so you won’t find a man-made children’s play area here…however there is a play park in the village, a short walk from the campsite.

A proportion of the fee you pay to stay at The Hideaway goes towards creating and maintaining wildlife habitats here at Baxby manor!

The Sanctuary

A CHILD-FREE area of The Hideaway away from the main site. These pitches beyond the orchard back on to the stream and are set amongst the native trees and grasses; a special place that has been untouched to encourage wildlife and ground-nesting birds.  For this reason there are only five pitches for tents (no hook-ups) and no dogs are permitted. Otters and Kingfishers have been spotted from these pitches!

(Eleven7 no noise and no amplified music)

Live Acoustic Music – Saturday June 8th 2019! (Rescheduled)

Straw bales and a few songs around a campfire. There is no amplified music and it is just one or two local musicians who come camping with their tents and musical instruments!  Everyone is welcome to pull up a hay bale and sit around the campfire to listen, sing, or play!  Liza Jane, our resident vintage caravan kitchen, will be open until late serving authentic stone-baked pizzas.  The cider makers from the village also pop down so you can sample some local produce!

This starts around 6pm.

…we do aim to be finished by around midnight so please keep noise to an absolute minimum once the music has stopped, please be considerate of others on the site who may have gone to bed before this time; there will be quite a few families with young children sleeping before this time – the noise police will be patrolling!

It takes place out the front of Reception, near Liza-Jane. It is far from a raucous affair and is very family friendly.

*** This is for locals and Campers and Glampers staying at the Hideaway only ***

If you play ANY sort of instrument please bring it along and join in, there is no playlist, it is all very informal and laid-back!
