…if you appreciate nature and peacefulness off the beaten track…
...if you want to toast marshmallows on an open campfire whilst gazing at a sky laden with stars…
…if you want time to yourself to read your favourite book or watch the Kingfishers and the Otters.
The Hideaway@Baxby is a special, peaceful and restful place where you can spend precious days away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A haven for walkers and cyclists, and a perfect base for exploring the many historic, cultural and outdoor attractions of this lovely part of Yorkshire. We are about camping, campfires, the countryside and getting away from it all.
We believe and encourage ‘natural play’ (playing in the stream, climbing trees and being free to run around making new friends) here at The Hideaway so you won’t find a man-made children’s play area here…however there is a play park in the village, a short walk from the campsite.
Before you book please click HERE; this may (or may not) be the campsite for you!

A CHILD-FREE area of The Hideaway away from the main site. These pitches beyond the orchard back on to the stream and are set amongst the native trees and grasses; a special place that has been untouched to encourage wildlife and ground-nesting birds. For this reason there are only five pitches for tents (no hook-ups). Otters and Kingfishers have been spotted from these pitches!
SAME SITE RULES FOR THE SANCTUARY!
(Eleven7 no noise and no amplified music)
BaxbyFest May 11th 2019
BaxbyFest (straw bales around a campfire, not Glastonbury-esk!) is our annual acoustic music sing-a-long, we have held it every year since we opened in 2012 and is very popular. There is no amplified music and it is just a handful of talented local musicians (normally around six to ten) who come camping with their tents and musical instruments! Everyone is welcome to pull up a hay bale and sit around the campfire listening, singing or playing! Liza Jane, our resident vintage caravan kitchen will be open until late serving authentic stone-baked pizzas. The cider making business from the village comes down and sets up a little bar. This starts from around 7pm on Saturday evening and goes on well into the night! PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE ONE NIGHT OF THE YEAR THAT OUR NO NOISE AFTER 11pm POLICY IS RELAXED! It takes place out the front of Reception, near Liza-Jane . It is far from a raucous affair and is very family friendly.
***This is for Campers and Glampers staying at the Hideaway only***
If you play ANY sort of instrument please bring it along and join in, there is no playlist, it is all very informal and laid-back!
